The Burnsville 14U Inferno are USSSA State Champions.

The Burnsville 14U Inferno are USSSA State Champions.  The Inferno beat Richfield Fireside Pizza to take home the title on a very hot and humid day in Oakdale.

The Inferno got a big 3 run double from Makayla Ericksen, and outstanding pitching from Elizabeth Boeder to bring home  the championship.  The Inferno got by the Oakdale Sluggers and Glen Lake on Saturday, before facing off against Richfield in the winners bracket.  A big win allowed for some rest from the heat, but Richfield came back through the losers brackets to meet up for the title.

In game one, Richfield got the victory, forcing a second game.  In that final game, the Inferno came out with some early runs and made it stand up.
Great effort from all the girls, and thanks to all the parents and supporters for being there through the heat and humidity.

It's going to be a fun summer!

The 2011 season continues to be a successful one for the Burnsville Girls Traveling Slow Pitch program.  Leading the way are the 14U Inferno, winners of each of their four tournaments so far this season.   The Inferno, coming off an ASA State championship a year ago, have won tournaments in Champlin, Andover, Coon Rapids and Richfield.  The competition will continue to get tougher, as the Inferno are headed to South Dakota for the Watertown Invitational in late June.

The 16U Braves have one tournament championship, in Champlin, and a Consolation title from the Richfield Classic.  Head Coach Doug Hamblin has a great group of girls who should continue to get better each week. Included in their season is a planned trip to the ASA Nationals in July.

The 14U Braves also have hardware to show for their season, bringing home 2nd place at the Andover Spring Opener.  The Braves, led by Head Coaches Scott Aune and Jeff Luckraft,  have several big wins on the year, and are looking to improve each week.  The Braves will be playing in the Golden Valley Classic in late June.

A great story has been the 12U Blazers, who did not see a tournament game until June.  The Blazers answered by bringing home a 3rd place finish in Coon Rapids, then falling to the powerful Bloomington Cougers  in the winners bracket in Richfield. Head Coach Jason Barta has his team playing solid defense.  Once the bats start coming around, the Blazers are going to surprise some 12U teams.

The 18 Blaze has been scuffling a bit to start the season, still trying to get their full team on the field.  Head coach Paul Dack has several girls back from his ASA Champs a year ago, and they should get back to their winning ways soon.

It's going to be
a fun summer.
